Ski Channel and Tennis Channel creator, Steve Bellamy, introduced his latest venture with the announcement of a third niche outlet, the Surf Channel. Intimately highlighting the world of surfing, the network postures to combine a sports channel, travel channel and lifestyle channel into one surf-centric delivery, taking viewers to the most remote and exotic destinations on the planet with top athlete personalities. Original programming, movies and contest coverage are expected to make up the the channel’s core content lineup. Scheduled to launch in September 2012, as an on-demand sports option, the channel aims to reach 20 million households via distribution deals through Comcast, Cox Communications, DirecTV, Dish, Filmon.com and a preferred channel partnership with YouTube.
