Fresh out the fryer, independently produced and directed by Lance Mountain, “Pool Service” reminds us why Lance never goes out style. 30 years later, the skateboard legend and the Nike SB construction crew (including 2011 Skater of the Year – Grant Taylor, Peter Hewitt, Al Partanen and Alex Olson) dig and build a pool for a family away on vacation, finishing and sessioning it just prior to their return. Featuring music by Indian Wig (Lance and long-time cohorts Neil Blender, Hogo Nagarian, and Eddie Glass) and Gaoler’s Daughter. Video above. Enjoy.
Plastic injection moulded skateboards from the 70s were one of the best and sought after skateboards available! People love the small size, tight turns and the fact they can put them in their backpacks. Penny Skateboards out of Australia are the original plastic skateboard and they’re making a come back in a big way. Check out their multicolored line up and pick yourself up a complete for around $99 at your local skate shop.
The always stylish and retro surf company out of Newport Beach Ca, Almond Surfboards & Designs, have expanded their brand from old school surfboards and soft goods to the Coffee-Break Commuter skateboard. The deck is touted to be hand made and will run you $200 for a complete.Almond Surfboards & Designs
Cats and dogs, of the rain variety, skunk the crew in Shanghai. City sights, pricey import coffees and counterfeit markets keep the boys busy until the skies clear up.. kinda. With the streets drying out, Hjalte Halberg, Anton Juul, Nis Anderson, Morten Bech, Danijel Stankovic and Henry Swan hit it hard to make up for lost time.
Episode 2 in a series of three. If you haven’t already, catch Episode 1 here. Stay tuned for Episode 3 dropping on March 6.
On that neon kick. Already featured in both the new P-Rod V and Mogan III, the highlighter spectrum is in full effect for Nike AS’s SP’12 line.
Still, unless you’re stomping the streets of Beijing today, you’re not likely to spot these day-glo kicks any time soon. SB team rider Stefan Janoski crafted the custom day-glo signatures before taking off for China, and has been running them through the paces since arriving in the land of the rising sun, earlier this week.
Could we see this color-way dropping in a season to come?Nike
As the video’s title so cleverly communicates, Hjalte Halberg and co. mobbed out to China to film for the three part series. Joined by Anton Juul, Nis Andersen, Morten Bech, Danijel Stankovic, Nils Svensson, and Henrik Svan, the Dane’s hit the Shanghai streets, skate Blue Banks, and grab Teppanyaki all to the beat of Seoul Music Ensembles’ “Bibimbob.”
Episodes 2 & 3 drop on February 28 & March 6, respectively. See them then, see them here.
Bonus features video from the Nike Skateboarding Chronicles Vol. 1. Skaters in order of appearance Eric Koston (not skating), Youness Amrani, Daniel Shimizu, Clark Hassler, Wieger Van Wageningen, Stefan Janoski, Chet Childress, Lewis Marnell and Grant Taylor. Grant’s intensity makes for an amazing final section, complete with dolphins, super dog and a sick little backyard BBQ bowl.Nike
