Surfer Magazine takes a look at the fast-paced balancing act 18 year old Curren Caples draws between surfing and skating. Named after the great Tom Curren, Caples must be breathing a sigh of relief that surfing felt so natural, maybe came with the name. Regardless it’s his skill set on a skateboard that’s truly thrust him into the spotlight. Going pro for Flip Skateboards and winning a gold medal in Skateboard Park at X Games Munich last year, the Ventura local talks about his Jekyll and Hyde lifestyle and how separate the two really are… set of course behind 3:14 of hammer-time action. Out for his daily winter surf check Nantucket photographer and local surfer Jonathan Nimerfroh captured what can only be described as magical when he discovered the Atlantic swell had nearly frozen solid.
