Previewed on Scoutwell back in December, Warren Smith & Nick Lavecchia debut their latest creative project to the public, opening their FIX THE SHADOWS show in the maritime district of Portland, Maine. Setting out the capture the daily happenings and Northeastern exploits of Warren, Nick and invited friends, the show features collective photographs taken over 3-months time, including local surf, community, nature and more friends. Converting a waterfront loft space into an impromptu gallery, the show features 30 framed photos and countless numbers of loose prints hung on clothes lines around the space. Presented by Insight, RAEN and Monster Children, additional shows are scheduled to hit Los Angeles and Australia later this year – with 100% of proceeds being donated to waterforwaves.org for Sandy Relief.

The creative brainchild of wandering artist and pro surfer Warren Smith, Fix The Shadows documents a personal sabbatical on the quiet coastline of Maine. Collaborating with renowned photographer Nick LaVecchia, the pair converted a vacant garage into a make-shift darkroom and embarked on a three-month photographic experience, inviting fellow artists, surfers and photographers to join them in the process. Featuring work from Craig Anderson, Dustin Miller, Dion Agius, Brian Nevins and Cole Barash, the project sets out to capture the beauty and stillness of Fall in Maine, surfing cold waves, skating backyards barn ramps and anything that crossed paths in the process. Fix The Shadows opens its tour in Portland, Maine on December 21st with an Artists Reception and live auction of select prints, proceeds donated to Waves 4 Water.org. Additional tour stops to include Los Angeles and Australia. More on the Portland opening here. Sneak peak in the slides above.

Curated by New York’s Jonathan LeVine Gallery, Japanese sculptor Haroshi debuts his newest series at Art Basel 2012. Created from used skateboard decks, ‘Foot with Invisible Shoe (1-6)’ is a series of six inspired sculptures. Each foot is unique, created in pairs of two, and sporting transparent renditions of the Vans Half Cab, the HUF Hufnagel Pro or the Nike Dunk SB. Currently in Switzerland? Check out the pieces live at the SCOPE installation. Otherwise, enjoy some photos below.
