Out for his daily winter surf check Nantucket photographer and local surfer Jonathan Nimerfroh captured what can only be described as magical when he discovered the Atlantic swell had nearly frozen solid. Rolling in with an ever so slurpee-like apperance, Nimerfroh snapped shots of the waves in their remarkably dreamy form. Images above and more are available in print through the jump.

Swiss photographer Vincent LaForet releases a collection of shots aimed at capturing the ‘big picture’ of competitive surfing. Featuring a number of incredible images taken from hundreds of feet above the action at the Pipeline Masters in Oahu, HI, the Pulitzer Prize winning lenseman unveils a unique look at the professionals at work and the magnitude of their environment.
